This Privacy Policy describes how Suzanne Schmidt for County Commissioner (the “Campaign,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit vote4suzanne.com (the “Site”), sign up to get involved, subscribe to our newsletter, join our text messaging program, or otherwise interact with us.
By using the Site or providing us with your information, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Who We Are
This Site is operated by Suzanne Schmidt for County Commissioner, a political campaign committee.

2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly. When you fill out a form on the Site, sign up for our newsletter, volunteer, or contact us, we may collect:
- Name (first and last)
- Email address
- Phone number
- Mailing or physical address
- Employer and occupation
- The ways you indicate you’d like to get involved (for example, knocking on doors, making phone calls, requesting a yard sign, writing a letter to the editor, sending text messages, or referring a friend)
- Any other information you choose to include in a message or form
Contribution information. If you make a political contribution, your payment is processed by our third-party donation processors (such as WinRed and eFundraising Connections). These processors collect the information needed to complete your contribution, which may include your name, address, employer, occupation, email, phone number, and payment card or bank information. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Information you provide to these processors is governed by their own privacy policies, and the contribution information we receive from them is subject to public reporting requirements (see Section 5).
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, and the dates and times of your visits.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Communicate with you about the Campaign, including news, updates, events, and volunteer opportunities
- Send you our newsletter and other email communications you’ve requested
- Send you text messages if you have opted in (see Section 4)
- Coordinate and respond to your offers to volunteer or get involved
- Process and acknowledge contributions and comply with campaign finance laws
- Operate, maintain, analyze, and improve the Site
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security issues
- Comply with applicable laws and respond to legal requests
4. Text Messaging (SMS) Program
If you provide your mobile phone number and consent, you may receive recurring automated text messages from the Campaign, such as election reminders, opinion polls, legislative and member updates, voter education, volunteer requests, and other Campaign communications. These messages may be sent using an autodialer.
- Consent is not a condition of any purchase, contribution, or volunteer activity.
- Message frequency varies.
- Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
- To stop receiving texts, reply STOP to any message. For help, reply HELP.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or text-messaging opt-in information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Service providers that help us operate the text messaging program may process your number solely to deliver messages on our behalf.
5. How We Share Information
We are not in the business of selling your personal information for profit. We may share information in the following circumstances:
Service providers. We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, email and text-message delivery, donation processing, data and analytics, and list management. These providers are authorized to use your information only as needed to provide services to us.
Campaign finance disclosure (public reporting). Political contributions are subject to public disclosure laws. Under Washington State law and the rules of the Washington Public Disclosure Commission (and, where applicable, other authorities), we are required to collect and publicly report information about contributors, which may include your name, address, employer, occupation, and contribution amount. This information becomes part of the public record and may be published in government databases and made available to the public.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe it is necessary to comply with the law, a subpoena, or other legal process; to enforce our Terms & Conditions; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Campaign, our supporters, or others.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the Site, and improve performance. The Site is built on WordPress and may load resources such as web fonts and embedded content from third parties.
Most web browsers let you control cookies through their settings, including blocking or deleting them. If you disable cookies, some features of the Site may not function properly. Because there is no common industry standard for “Do Not Track” signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.
7. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site contains links to third-party websites and services, including our donation processors (WinRed and eFundraising Connections) and social media platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site or service you visit.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable measures designed to protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including for the duration of the campaign and afterward as required to comply with our legal obligations (such as campaign finance recordkeeping), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
11. Your Choices and Rights
- Email: You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time by using the “unsubscribe” link in any email we send, or by contacting us.
- Text messages: Reply STOP to any text message to opt out.
- Access and updates: You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information you have provided, subject to legal limitations (for example, information we are legally required to retain or publicly report cannot be deleted).
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws regarding the personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below. Note that certain political and campaign-finance information is exempt from some privacy laws.
